Vladimir Kuzmin The 100th anniversary of the Russian Club in Sydney was celebrated by its many members and friends with a gala dinner on October 20 at the Renaissance Hall in Lidcombe. Back in 1924, representatives of the White emigration from the Russian Empire founded a club for communication and mutual assistance in the city center. The club has experienced successes and difficulties along its centuries-long path, but has always been open to people who love Russian culture, the Orthodox faith, and who speak Russian.
About 250 people, many of whom know each other well, gathered to celebrate the club's anniversary. Friends of the club from Melbourne and Adelaide came to the meeting. Chairman Nikolai Tolpygin and Deputy Chairman of the Board Nina Levitskaya greeted guests at the entrance. After the solemn prayer service, which was conducted by Archpriest Nikita Chemodakov, the solemn part took place. Then the dance group "Kalinka" and singer Victoria Bolonina performed for the audience.
The meeting was chaired by Mikhail Kulikov. For this event, the club's board released a photo album and anniversary souvenirs that could be purchased in the hall.
