“Reading Chekhov together” in the Russian Club library

This year, 2025, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov turns 165 years old. In connection with this anniversary, the Central City Public Library named after. A.P. Chekhov, Taganrog, where Anton Pavlovich was born, announced the “Let’s Read Chekhov Together” campaign. On January 31, readings of Chekhov's works were held in many places around the world.
Chekhov readings were also held in the library of the Russian Club on this day. There were books by Chekhov on the tables in the library, a large portrait of him stood on the shelf, and sheets of paper with printed stories by Chekhov were everywhere. These readings were opened by the president of the club, Nina Levitskaya. She congratulated everyone present on the Chekhov anniversary and wished the readings to be carried out sincerely and at the highest level.
With these readings, the library opens a cycle of monthly anniversary readings of Russian classical and modern literature. The next readings will take place on February 21 based on the works of Boris Leonidovich Pasternak.

The head of the library, Lyudmila Angus, briefly discussed the biography of Chekhov. Then those present read stories by Anton Pavlovich.
His humorous stories were heard: “Champagne”, “Mayonnaise”, “The Book of Complaints”, “In Spring”, “About Women”, “Rules for Beginning Authors” and many others performed by Elena Engel, Anna Kachalova, Alla Khlebakova, Elena Ponomareva, Larisa Vinogradova, Alexey Izosimov, Margarita Semyonova, Lyudmila Angus.

Chekhov's story “Life in Questions and Exclamations” performed by Anna Kachalova, Elena Ponamareva, Liudmila Angus was played for recording. 
This recording will be sent to Taganrog to participate in the “Read Chekhov Together” campaign.
